New Dark Project?

Thief: The Dark ProjectScrambling clumsily amongst the rocky, danger-ridden terrain of Oblivion mods I came across a blog post insinuating that a new Thief game could be in the works. Excited by the possibility I found out Eidos Montréal is probably developing it .
Both Thief and Deus Ex were Ion Storm creations, and with studio head Stephane D'Astous only recently removing the T from the Thief logo from his Facebook profile, things look good for a sneaky sequel to one of the best stealth-action franchises ever. Eurogamer got in touch with Eidos and was given a "no comment" on the whole situation, but in light of the circumstances I'd say Thief 4 is a pretty safe bet. Yum.
Hopefully it's better than Deadly Shadows, a somewhat satisfying but ultimately disappointing experience. The series really needs rejuvenation, but I also think a simply re-skinned Dark Project would be well-received (says the George Lucas in me). Imagine keeping the same cut-scenes, snappy dialog, diverse vistas, wonderful story, and no goof-ball 3rd person view to break immersion, but then bring the graphics (models, textures, effects) and sound quality up to the times. It seems like Valve's impressive Source Engine would work well in bringing Garrett new life from an old classic. Just thinking about it gets me all a flutter!

I wonder if it will come out before this Thief-esq Oblivion mod is finished, because I'm not sure how long I can wait. By the way, have I mentioned I really miss Looking Glass Studios?
