The original 1990 movie,
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, happened to be on television the night my sister came to visit. Its
original soundtrack and
cartoon predecessor shaped a large portion of my childhood. I have embarrassing recollections of trying to memorize the
Turtle Power rap by
Partners In Kryme, which I had thought at the time by M.C. Hammer (what he DO was the first track:
This Is What We Do).
Anyway the movie is better than you might remember. And if you don't want to watch it all the way through, then at least listen to the
cartoon theme song.
One more interesting note: the term "
cowabunga appears to be credited towards the turtles over the Simpsons, their show didn't start until two years after the TMNT animated series.
